Our next meeting is this Tuesday 12th March


Our last meeting was well attended for an address by Keith Forrest, one of our members, who gave us a splendid address about his observatory that he designed and built. Thank you Keith.

Our meeting this Tuesday will include a history of planet Earth’s climate.

The Moon will be good for viewing –moon

but there won’t be any planets to see.


After 8.30pm when it is dark enough we can look at the Orion Constellation (above), and star clusters. The latter are groups of stars which are gravitationally bound.


We see above the position of the Pleiades star cluster in relation to the Orion Constellation and the bright star Aldebran.

Tuesday 12th March at 7.30pm

Fergusson Park Observatory, Tilby Drive, Matua, Tauranga.


Admission to our meetings –

A donation of $5 is requested.

Members & children free.


Annual membership (until the AGM in May)

$10 each adult

or $15 each family.



Telescope viewing is subject to cloud cover.
