Tuesday September 12 Meeting – A night in the stars with Dr. Ian Griffin

Coming up on Tuesday 12th September, Tauranga Astronomical Society proudly presents – Dr. Ian Griffin – “Chasing the aurora around and above New Zealand”
Ian will describe 4 years of chasing the aurora in New Zealand from new year at Hoopers Inlet, to a Boeing 767 crossing the Antarctic circle. Visually this will enthuse the audience about the wonders of the Southern Lights.
Ian is currently director of the Otago Museum where, with his background in astronomical development, he has inspired a greater focus of sciences within the Museum, leading to the Museum’s Planetarium.
Admission is $5.00 for visitors (free for members). School age children are free. 12 Month membership is $30.00 for individuals, $40.00 for families, or $10.00 for students.
Meetings are held in the Observatory meeting room, Fergusson Park, Tauranga. These are held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month at 7:30 pm. Presentations are given on current astronomical topics. All those interested in astronomy in the Bay of Plenty district are invited to attend.
