This website is operated by Tauranga Astronomical Society (TAS), based at Fergusson Park, Matua, Tauranga, New Zealand.

When you contact us
Our contact form collects your name, email address, subject and message, along with any other information you choose to include.
We use this information to respond to your enquiry and help with matters such as visits, membership, volunteering or group bookings. Your message is intended for the club secretary and any club officers or volunteers needed to help with your request.
Providing information is voluntary. The form requires a name, email address and message so we can handle your enquiry. Without suitable contact details, we may be unable to reply.
The form submits your enquiry through this website. Website hosting and email providers process information needed to deliver it. Enquiries may be retained in club mailboxes and relevant club records.
Website information and cookies
The systems delivering this website receive technical information such as your IP address, browser details and the time of your request. This information may appear in service or security logs.

Live weather and sky information
Weather information is requested from Open-Meteo using a fixed Tauranga location. This feature does not request your device’s location.
Moon phases and other calculated sky information are worked out in your browser. These calculations do not require you to provide personal information.
External services and links
This website loads fonts from Google Fonts and weather data from Open-Meteo. When your browser connects to these services, they receive technical information such as your IP address and browser details.
Some website and email service providers may process information outside New Zealand.
Links to Facebook, Google Maps and other websites take you to services with their own privacy policies. If third-party content, such as a video, is embedded on a page, its provider may receive technical information or use cookies when that content loads.
Keeping information
Enquiries can become part of club correspondence or records relating to a visit, booking or membership request. Personal information must not be kept longer than needed for a lawful purpose, including any applicable recordkeeping requirements.
If you have questions about information TAS holds about you or how long it is retained, please contact the club secretary.
Access and corrections
You can ask for access to personal information TAS holds about you and request corrections if it is inaccurate. We may need to confirm your identity before providing information.
You can also ask us to consider deleting information that is no longer needed. Some records may need to be retained for lawful purposes.
